The Ruger LCR (Lightweight Compact Revolver) revolver is a break away from traditional aluminum and steel frame revolvers of the past. By using Ruger’s new Fire Control Housing located in the grip they were able to make a Monolithic frame to support the barrel and cylinder providing additional strength to the LCR. This new system of housing the fire control parts in the grip allows for improved geometry by way of a friction reducing cam, allowing for additional weight reduction versus traditional revolver designs.
Ruger uses a stainless steel cylinder with extensive fluting which decreases weight and is finished in Ruger’s Target Grey® for cosmetics as well as increased durability. With LCR models available in both 38 Special and the venerable 357 Magnum cartridge Ruger has raised the bar on defensive revolver design. The LCR can even be had from the factory with a set of Crimson Trace Lasergrips attached for enhanced target acquisition and deterrent capabilities.
